Basilur Nuwara Eliya - unique black tea from the mountains of Sri Lanka

Basilur Nuwara Eliya is a noble black Ceylon tea from one of the highest regions of Sri Lanka, often called Little England due to its clean air and cool climate.

The high altitude of cultivation gives the leaves a unique, slightly floral character with a subtle freshness, thanks to which the infusion delights with a delicate aroma and a light, transparent color. The elegant packaging with a picturesque landscape emphasizes the exclusive character of this tea and makes each cup transport you to the peaceful mountain landscapes of Ceylon. This is a choice for lovers of classic tea who expect a pure, premium flavor without additives.

The product is also perfect as a tasteful gift.

Black Tea:
The most popular type of tea. It undergoes a lengthy production process. The basic stages include withering, rolling, fermenting, and drying. Factors that determine the tea's flavor include its country of origin, plantation, harvest time, and degree of withering.

Ceylon black teas are considered the finest in the world. Carefully selected top leaves from the bushes produce an infusion worthy of recommendation to connoisseurs.

Black tea brewing time

How to prepare black tea:
  • pour water at 90°C over the tea
  • ⏰ Brewing time should be 3 to 5 minutes
Brew black tea the way you like it best:
  • up to 3 minutes - you will get a very refreshing and stimulating infusion
  • up to 5 minutes - the infusion will contain less caffeine and its effect will be more relaxing

Brewing for too long will make the infusion taste bitter, but it will not make it contain more caffeine or be more stimulating.

On the contrary, the tannins that are produced with each passing minute and give it a bitter taste neutralize the effect of theine.

Black tea - an aromatic classic

What is black tea and how is it different from green tea?

Black tea is made from fully oxidized leaves of the Camellia sinensis shrub. Unlike green tea (unoxidized), it has a darker infusion, a fuller flavor (notes of malt, chocolate, and spice), and a more pronounced aroma.

How much caffeine does black tea have?

On average, 40–70 mg of caffeine per 250 ml , depending on the variety, number of leaves, and brewing time. This is less than average coffee, but the stimulating effect is milder and longer-lasting.

Is black tea healthy?

Contains polyphenols and natural antioxidants. Moderate consumption is okay for most people. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, sensitive to caffeine, or taking medications, consult your doctor.

What are the most popular types of black tea?

  • Ceylon/Sri Lanka: clean, citrus freshness, medium strength.
  • Assam (India): strong, malty, great with milk.
  • Darjeeling (India): lighter, floral and nutmeg (often the "champagne of teas").
  • Yunnan/Keemun (China): silky, chocolate-honey notes.
  • Earl Grey: black tea flavored with bergamot

Can you drink black tea with milk or lemon?

Yes. Milk goes well with strong teas (Assam, English Breakfast). Lemon livens up lighter profiles (Ceylon). Don't combine milk and lemon at the same time—the infusion may curdle.
