  • pour water at 90°C over the tea
  • ⏰ Brewing time should be 3 to 5 minutes
Brew black tea the way you like it best:
  • up to 3 minutes - you will get a very refreshing and stimulating infusion
  • up to 5 minutes - the infusion will contain less caffeine and its effect will be more relaxing

Brewing for too long will make the infusion taste bitter, but it will not make it contain more caffeine or be more stimulating.

On the contrary, the tannins that are produced with each passing minute and give it a bitter taste neutralize the effect of theine.

Black tea - an aromatic classic

What is black tea and how is it different from green tea?

Black tea is made from fully oxidized leaves of the Camellia sinensis shrub. Unlike green tea (unoxidized), it has a darker infusion, a fuller flavor (notes of malt, chocolate, and spice), and a more pronounced aroma.

How much caffeine does black tea have?

On average, 40–70 mg of caffeine per 250 ml , depending on the variety, number of leaves, and brewing time. This is less than average coffee, but the stimulating effect is milder and longer-lasting.

Is black tea healthy?

Contains polyphenols and natural antioxidants. Moderate consumption is okay for most people. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, sensitive to caffeine, or taking medications, consult your doctor.

What are the most popular types of black tea?

  • Ceylon/Sri Lanka: clean, citrus freshness, medium strength.
  • Assam (India): strong, malty, great with milk.

Can you drink black tea with milk or lemon?

Yes. Milk goes well with strong teas (Assam, English Breakfast). Lemon livens up lighter profiles (Ceylon). Don't combine milk and lemon at the same time—the infusion may curdle.
